IDAHO FALLS, ID — According to this report from KIFI Local News 8, the Colonial Theater has reinstalled an item that was missing since the onetime vaudeville house became a movie house (as the Paramount). The item, a large metal triangular brace called a gusset, is used to support the theater’s balcony.
But several weeks ago, when the balcony moved slightly during an event, engineers realized the gusset was missing and have since reinstalled it. Carrie Getty, the executive director of the Idaho Falls Arts Council (which now runs the Colonial), says the balcony is now stable. Even stable enough to jump on.
“However, if you insist on doing so and you fall down, I can tell you the balcony will not come down with you,” says Getty.
