Regal adding five more large-format screens

KNOXVILLE, TN — The Regal Entertainment Group has announced that each of five of its theaters will be adding a large-format screen soon. The company’s propietary RPX screen will be installed in the Regal Cantera Stadium 30 in Warrensville, IL near Chicago and at the Edwards Greenway Grand Palace Stadium 24 in Houston. A digital IMAX screen will be installed in the UA Westbury Stadium 12 on Long Island, NY, in the Regal Parkway Plaza Stadium 18 in San Diego, and in the Regal Manassas Stadium 14 in the greater Washington, DC area.

From what I saw at Regal 20 I visited,this IMAX I saw did not impress me.looks like the size movie screens use to be and nothing more.

I agree Mike,but some folks have truly never seen a Big Screen,so maybe the larger screens will make a comeback.Of course with most people watching movies on their cell phones, computers,i-pods and whatever, else, any screen would seem large.

so now the DC metro area will have ETX at Tysons, XD at the Cinemark, three IMAX (15perf/70mm) theatres, five IMAX-Digtal screens, DLP at the Uptown – the circle’s complete: RPX at Regal Manassas

The Continental in Denver has always had a big curved screen. In the last couple of years, they started charging a “big screen” fee for movies in that house. It’s now the RPX theater. They’ve now found a way to charge even more for what use to be included with the price of admission.
