More digital struggles
COULEE DAM, WA — The Atlantic Cities looked at some small cinemas around the country like the Village Cinema and how they’re dealing with the digital conversion. Capitol Theatre renovations force The Spencer Agency to move
FLINT, MI — The ongoing restoration of the Capitol Theatre has forced the relocation of a high-profile tenant, The Spencer Agency, which has been occupying a storefront next to the theater’s entrance. Part of the space will be used to enlarge the restored theater’s lobby. When the agency moved into the storefront four years ago, it expected the location to be temporary. They plan on either moving to another portion of the Capitol Theatre building or above a co-owned coffee shop downtown.
Additional details are available in the Flint Journal.

Ruby approaches 100
CHELAN, WA — With talk recently on the oldest continuously operating theatre, the Ruby Theatre, wondering where they stack up in comparison. Here’s some facts from its owners:
“Construction on the Ruby Theatre was started in 1913 and opened as a movie theatre in 1914 and has been running movies ever since. The simple 175 seat theatre was constructed by the Kingman brothers who were local contractors and leased to a manager, Frank Potter. Where they got their plans is unknown.
