Themed movie & dinner at the Nitehawk
BROOKLYN, NY — The Nitehawk Cinema has been steadily growing fans since opening two years ago and now it’s upping its game with themed dinner paired with movies. They recently screened “Amelie” and brought in a chef to provide high-end french delicacies.

WINDOM, MN — It’s been an ongoing battle since locals took control of the State Theater last year to refurbish. They’re now looking for donations and support from local businesses to purchase a new projector.

The Rep readies for release
Morgan White shot a documentary last year about the former Toronto Underground Cinema revival theatre before it closed. It eventually spiraled into a look into the decline of the exhibition business and after a troubled journey into distribution, he’s now offering it to theaters to present for free.

Technology challenges, but now could save, Northland movie theater
COOK, MN — The Comet Theatre is in danger of closing unless it can raise $80,00 by May 15. What they claim is the longest continuously operating movie theater in Minnesota is attached to a coffee shop and gift store that would remain open no matter what.

Westover Hills to get movie theater
WESTOVER HILLS, TX — Santikos Theatres has moved the location of their upcoming Granada Theatre to a spot three miles north of the original plans at Loop 1604 and Alamo Ranch Parkway. They’ll break ground on the Spanish-themed cinema soon with plans to open in the summer of 2014.

Downtown movie theater ‘getting VIP treatment’
FORT WORTH, TX — The AMC Palace 9 is getting a significant renovation this summer to make it one of the top ones in the AMC chain. New plush seating and concessions are expected and the theatre will remain open during the work.

Military movie theaters going digital
WILIMINGTON, DE — Reports from USA Today are saying that half of the movie theaters on military bases will close. The 60 remaining are being converted, based on demand with very little money coming from tax dollars.

Capri Theatre needs $80K to survive
MONTGOMERY, AL — The clock is ticking for the Capri Theatre as it tries to raise money for a digital projector. Unless they raise $80,000 by the end of April, they will have to stop showing movies.

Luxury theaters for the Masses
ST. LOUIS, MO — ABC News looked at the growing success of local luxury chain Wehrenberg Theatres. By featuring in-theater dining and plush, heated leather recliners, they’ve managed to steadily grow their portfolio.
