Trio floats plan to reopen MET Cinema
OAKHURST, CA — Despite closing last month, there’s a loyal fanbase trying to save the MET Cinema. Three childhood friends have created a website and a membership program so the theatre can reopen and become a local entertainment center.

Blue Mouse Theater launches public appeal to fund acquisition of digital projection
TACOMA, WA — The Blue Mouse Theater has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a digital projector. They need to raise $75,000 by next October to save the oldest continuously-operating theatre in the state.

AMC acquiring four theaters from Rave
Rave Cinemas is continuing its trend of divesting its properties with the sale of four southeastern locations to AMC. The theaters in such markets as Baton Rouge and Montgomery are all #1 performers.

Film Society of Lincoln Center announces 70mm festival Dec. 21st - Jan. 1
NEW YORK, NY — The Film Society of Lincoln Center will present a 70mm festival at the Walter Reade Theater in late December. They’ll feature 15 rare prints including classics such as “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “The Sound of Music,” and a 30th Anniversary screening of “Tron.”

State Theatre, closed for over a decade, gets major makeover; set to reopen as a cinema in 2013
SIOUX FALLS, SD — The State Theatre is set to reopen next year afters years of efforts to bring it back. Only the main floor will be open for now and they’ll present a variety of films throughout the year. Further restoration work will still be conducted and hopefully it will revitalize the neighborhood.

Former Saucon Valley 10 converted to upscale bowling alley
BETHLEHEM, PA — The Saucon Valley 10 is being converted into a bowling alley, after closing last year as a theatre. It will reopen by the end of the year with 20-24 upscale lanes, following a $250,000 renovation.

Theater closed since 2005 gets $4 million makeover
HENDERSON, NV — Galaxy is now planning to reopen the former Green Valley Theatres in March, following a $4 Million upgrade. The theatre that’s been closed since 2005 is applying for an alcohol permit and will feature motorized, reclining chairs with footrests.

Eleven-screen Galaxy Moviehouse and Eatery opens in Austin’s Four Points area
AUSTIN, TX — A new dine-in theatre concept has opened in the Austin-area with the Galaxy Moviehouse and Eatery. This first theater in the Four Points neighborhood has traditional theaters as well as screens where you can order food and drinks off of tablet computers.
