HorrorThon at the Lafayette Theatre this weekend
SUFFERN, NY — The historic Lafayette Theatre presents its annual salute to classic horror and science fiction films on the weekend of October 21-23, 2011.
The Schedule:
Friday 10/21: Giorgio Moroder presents “Metropolis”; Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent classic presented in its 1984 restoration by Giorgio Moroder and featuring a dynamic pop music soundtrack by Pat Benatar, Billy Squier, Freddie Mercury, Bonnie Tyler, Adam Ant, Jon Anderson and more. Digital HD presentation.

Fixing the Pix
NAMPA, ID — It was a small step but a notable one. Recently the marquee at the long vacant Pix Theatre listed the website for its fundraising arm, the Pix Foundation. They hope to raise $65,000 to buy the theatre and complete the renovations that have been slowly creeping ahead for years due to setbacks from a storm.

Short North theater to make ‘Follies’ into fortune
COLUMBUS, OH — The Garden Theatre reopened its doors the other week with a run of ‘Follies’. Staging the production is one of the first steps in raising money to restore the theatre for future engagements.

Moorpark 3 public auction
MOORPARK, CA — Moorpark Cinema 3 has been closed down by owner, MAC Sport Fitness. The 3 fully functional theaters are comprised of 3 Complete 35mm Cinema Projection Systems and Dolby Digital Surround Sound Systems feeding theaters equipped with JBL speakers, 30' screens and plus high back theater seats. The company will even auction off the theater’s mood lighting and sound baffling. And, what would a theater auction be without a commercial grade popcorn machine.

Drive-In Theatre Meet Lineup and registration extended

West Side Story 50th Anniversary Event
CENTENNIAL, CO — In honor of the film’s 50th Anniversary, Fathom Events will be presenting “West Side Story” for one night at theaters nationwide. On Wednesday November 9th at 7PM local time, Fathom will show the film preceded by a discussion TCM taped earlier this years with the picture’s producer.

Tampa Theatre: Still cool at 85
TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Theatre is still charging ahead, even while in the midst of a renovation project. They continue to show films and offer live concerts but they’re working on redoing the lighting and plaster around the stage.
