Just walked by here a few days ago while visiting friends in Logan Square. It looks pretty bad on the outside I can only imagine how bad it looks inside since those pics on that Block Club article a couple years ago almost. There is massive amounts of graffiti including the entire pediment in day glo colors. The marquee panels are missing or smashed and the scaffolding around the entrance is rusty and filled with trash and weeds. I wonder if there is any news on if the restoration is ever going to actually happen before it’s too late?
In 1919 the Fiume Café (later Club) opened in the former Washington Theater. It was still in operation at least into the late 20s.

The McHenry Downtown Theater closed in January of 2022. It will be opening next month as mixed-use live venue called The Vixen offering stand-up comedy, live music, bingo and other live entertainment (as well as two bar areas).
The photo above is the LaSalle Opera House (later LaSalle Theatre) at 110 W. Madison St in the Loop, not the 152 (former LaSalle) Theater at 152 W. Division St.
The former iPic at the Arboretum of South Barrington is being reopened this spring by Star Cinema Grill which has also acquired iPic’s former Bolingbrook location as well.
This doesn’t come up in searches with the space in between the La and Salle. Also, it should be listed as being located in the Loop with the other Loop theaters.

That’s odd, last week the AMC website listed it as “Now Open”. Must’ve been a delay.
It is now known as the AMC Newcity 14 not the Chicago 14.
This theater is now open, and listed on AMC’s website as the AMC Newcity 14:

From an advertisement in a 1917 cookbook put out by the Ladies' Aid Society of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard:
“THE PARKSIDE is a Lombard institution, for the recreation of Lombard people.
THE BEST in photoplays may always be seen at THE PARKSIDE.
OUR AIM: GOOD CLEAN AMUSEMENT FOR YOUNG AND OLD."
In the Chicago Tribune the City appears in movie theater listings until 1950, by 1956 an electronics store is listed at this address.
This theater was still open by September of 1925, in an ad in the Chicago Tribune it’s listed as a theater playing movies from Paramount Pictures.
Wire closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic and never reopened. The building was recently for sale.
