Cineaplis had started the fourth renovation of this theatre. Now getting new recliners. Level 2 is now complete, now their working on Level 3.
This is the only theatre in its 28 year history to go thru 4 renovations. Clearview Cinemas in the late around 1999, Bow Tie Cinemas in 2014 and now Cineapolis in 2018. I posted a couple of photos of the new redesigned theatres.
The theatre still has it own concession and restrooms. This location was like the old Cinema 1 and 2 were you can’t theatre hop. The carpeting still has it original NY2 or NY1 on the rug. For today’s movie going enjoyment, the seats are tight and not as comfortable.
Theatre 18 371 and theatre 13 369, at one time theatre 6 was the largest followed by theatre 1. Theatre 8 is now 218 seats, one time over 600 and theatre 1 is now 310, one time about 500
The Empire needs recliners in all auditoriums. Just at E-Walk see are more comfortable than the early 2000 AMC seats. If they playdate, E-Walk wins except Dolby Cinema or IMAX.
The Regal recliners are more comfortable than AMC version. Won’t pay $30. for 4DX.

The EMPIRE accross the street needs to upgrade or when movies play date, E-Walk business will impact the AMC Empire 25. The only time I’ll go to the EMPIRE is for IMAX 12 chanels or Dolby Cinema.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is intended especially for IMAX Laser 3D. Thank god Lincoln Square has it. The 70MM prints are for cities that dont have IMAX Laser. 70MM dosen’t produce 12 chanels of sound.

On AMC is the seating plan is showing a balcony for that showtime, that the loews.
Just posted a photo of the new imax renovation at the Empire. Still haven’t seen a movie in their yet. Just got a quick peak of the auditorium, new seats.
The curent IMAX auditorium is design for IMAX Laser 12 chanels. Christopher Nolan still believe in film (Film is analog projection), unfornately the sound systems playing film are not equipped well for the new laser projection.
In the late days of theatres still playing film, I notice the Surround sound would not pass since it went to digital. When another theatre that was last to coverte to digital, their Dolby Surround system works well.
I was originally was going to see Dunkirk at Lincoln Square in IMAX, but saw it in Baby IMAX at REGAL. I’ll wait for Geostorm or the The Last Jedi to see in Laser.
