this has happened at rockaway and will continue slowly at every theater. AMC is not rushing out like Clearview but more like Regal and other larger chains.
seems that inglorious basterds killed xgames at the box office….next weekend the new final destination might suffer against the second Halloween remake sequel…which is not a good sign. Maybe family movies like CLoudy with a CHance of Meatballs and Xmas Carol will do well. I hope they preserve the images for the Toy Story Double feature and not change anything. As for Avatar…did they show the preview at the theater? How was it? I can’t wait for that movie. If that movie bombs, then it might mean the end of digital 3D movies, which could mean that AMC would be stuck with showing enhanced versions of 2D features before Alice in Wonderland comes out.
I saw the trailer online….and it’s in its 2.40:1 ratio..the 3-D version is 1.85:1. The trailer was good….looks weird but interesting. Should be more fun than a duo of jive-talking robots.
Hopefully Avatar will crush several upcoming 3D movies in the next few months and become the most popular 3D movie of all time, which belongs to The Stewardesses, an X-Rated 3D film that is getting remade in 3D.
When tickets were available yesterday afternoon…the movie website’s ticketing section crashed….and after the issue was resolved, shows in NY and LA were sold out mostly for the trailer. I’m sure the movies that will show the trailer this weekend will be busy, and the video sites will be busy showing the trailer online for those who can’t afford to see the trailer.
If anyone attends G-Force in 3D starting today, let me know how the picture and sound quality is. So far, tickets are not selling like hotcakes according to the movie theater’s ticketing website. Only a late night showing of District 9, at 11 p.m., is sold out, and that’s only in 2D 35mm.
I’ll probably see it in 4k 3D at the AMC in Rockaway, which will show 3D movies starting tomorrow with “G-Force”. It will be less expensive and closer than the IMAX 3D theater at Lincoln Square and Palisades Center, two true IMAX theaters.
This is good news….next month Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will become the first 3D movie to play at this theater, followed by that Michael Jackson concert movie. Will it be one screen or all screens? Seems that AMC is getting Sony technology back into this former Sony theater.
This is good news…since G-Force is doing well, especially with the 3-D version making for much of the grosses. Might as well go see a morning show to save money on a 3-D movie or use a gift card to save cash. I hope they also use it for non-3D movies as well.
My dad went to see this movie when it was playing at the Ziegfeld back in 1979. I first saw the movie when I got the Dossier Edition for around $10 at Wal-Mart, which contains the original and expanded version of the movie. Sadly, the original two-and-a-half hour movie is chopped up on two discs, in regard to the branching of extended scenes for the special edition and some special features. The movie is pretty good. I never saw the documentary that chronicled the making of the film, but I read the stories about how difficult it was for Coppola to finance his first war-themed movie after the success of the first two Godfather movies as well as The Conversation. During the release, United Artists released it theatrically, until the 1980s when Paramount bought the rights when it came to home video. The film would be re-released with extended footage in association with Miramax in 2001 with a digitally restored Dolby Digital surround sound mix and was met with limited success. Hopefully they get Apocalpyse Now on Blu-Ray soon.
Will LA Fitness open in time? I read an article online that there was a shooting at an LA Fitness in a suburb near Pittsburgh….they should put extra security at that building since it’s a highly trafficked area.
From what I read on CT, Tuesdays at this theater (as well as other Clearviews) are hot days, since Cablevision customers who have all three services jam pack the theater and wait in line (in addition to non-Cablevision customers) for the movie to start.
Some of my friends use this program, but I don’t since I only get IO cable, Verizon phone, and Verizon DSL. In Hackettstown, where the Mansfield theater is, there is Comcast…the nearest town that has Cablevision is Allamuchy, and in Chester, there is Patriot Media, so the nearest town would be Randolph, where Cablevision’s Morris service is located.
500 Days of Summer finally arrives at this theater this weekend, as well as G.I. Joe and Julie and Julia. Next movie I’m probably seeing is District 9.

it’s going to close.
Alien 3 sucked even more, but the fourth one was so-so. I can’t wait for the prequel.
I hope AMC or Regal doesn’t buy it, since they screw up classic theaters.

right now there’s only one showtime available online for inglorious basterds and nothing else. tomorrow the schedule is back to normal.
Did this theater show 3-D movies (the pre-digital ones)? This is because the new Rockaway now has 3-D movies again.
on friday, avatar will trailer before xgames 3d as well as inglorious basterds and shorts in 35mm 2d.
what screen?

The 3D and IMAX 3D versions will account for much of the business and will last longer than the 2D 35mm version.
Probably. And maybe that Michael Jackson movie as well..since it has parts of it in 3D.

Maybe AMC should consider this…

a fire broke out at this theater.
