I checked AMC’s website again and they now have a section devoted to IMAX. Upon checking the coming soon section, the rollout date for the new IMAX theater is now coming out on January 23 of next year, although there is an asterisk warning that the date might change based on economic conditions and the like. I’m going to the AMC today to see Zack and Miri, the first Kevin Smith movie to be shown at this theater and the first since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back at the old AMC. As for the IMAX, I guess The Day the Earth Stood Still will be the first one since it’s the last of 2008’s films to be shown also in IMAX.
I checked the AMC website and three new movies are available for advanced ticketing…all of which will not be shown in DLP. Madagascar 2 for the kiddies, Twilight for the teens, and the one I want to see, the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace, which is the shortest Bond movie in terms of length and will be shown on multiple screens. This is the second Bond movie to play here, as Casino Royale was one of the first movies to be shown at this theater even though I saw it on DVD. It has done great business over in England and other European countries, so it should do well here in America.
Sounds a lot like the AMC in Rockaway, which has 35mm projectors for theatrical films and 2k projectors for NCM content with an IMAX Digital projector on the way next year. Plus it’s run by private people.
BTW, the new showplace 14 will have DLP in all of its screens for alternative content similar to NCM Fathom. CinemarkFan, just write an email to Kerasotes about expanding the theater!!! Maybe even put an IMAX screen in, although the big three chains are trying their best to do that.
My friend Dan went to see Max Payne and the management escorted some rowdy 10 year olds out of the showing since it was rated PG-13. Pretty good management, I say. No wonder why this theater is always packed on Friday nights when there’s nothing else to do in downtown Newton.
I can’t believe both of these theaters are still open!!! That is until fall 2009, when Kerasotes' unleashes Showplace, a 14-screen behemoth with stadium seating and hopefully digital projection and sound. But nothing could replicate the original Meadow Six.
The opening of the new theater will be fall of 2009, meaning that moviegoers in Secaucus will still go see movies at this theater and its sister for one more year this month. Kerasotes' Showplace 14 will be one of two new theaters in the Meadowlands region, the other being the mammoth Muvico complex near Xanadu to compete with the leading Clifton Commons theater.

This theater also has a Starbucks Coffee shop, although it is not in use anymore. And I read a review from one moviegoer on one of those opinion sites that the smell from theater 1 was mildewy.
Don’t forget blurry projection and loud surround sound. At the AMC near where I live in Rockaway, that’s the case there. But at the Clearview plexes in Succasunna, Parsippany, and Mansfield, it’s just right.
I first saw this movie when I rented it from a local Blockbuster store back when I was in my junior year of high school, compared with the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films, this one was less scary and sexy and more suspense. I have since owned the movie when it came out on a 20th anniversary 2-tape set complete with a doc on the making of the film (the widescreen version) and once in awhile Monsters HD shows it uncut!!! I didn’t get to see the remake until I borrowed it from a friend of mine and it’s about equal to the original, although more modern and scarier. I hope the new Friday the 13th stays true to its roots as well.
just came back from a showing of Max Payne in theater #13, and me and my dad are the only two people in the theater since most of the crowds went to see either HSM3 or SAW V. Only one splice during the film…but the sound was loud and clear and the presentation was perfect. The popcorn served at this theater is the same as Clearview, good old Orville Redenbacher. Don’t care for the new Queen concert playing next thursday since I liked the band when Freddie Mercury was the lead. Next movie I’m attending will be Zack and Miri with my cousin and her husband.
As for the movie itself, it might break records this weekend at the US Box office, beating Saw V to the punch since “HSM3” will attract mostly teenyboppers and kids; the 8:10 showing at the AMC in Rockaway is sold out on Friday night.
for the second straight year, there will be no sawfest at this theater next week just in time for the second saw movie to play at this theater. Maybe next year if they ever make a saw vi.
There’s an Imax Dome theater near me at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. It was renovated just recently alongside the expansion project for the science museum, which I haven’t been to in a long time. Seeing a movie in this format is more immersive than watching a regular IMAX or 35mm movie.
Went to see a 4:25 p.m. showing of Body of Lies, the second movie from Ridley Scott to play at this theater. No splices during the feature and previews, although after the preshow ended the film screen was tiny and then the projectionist increased the screen. Crowd was well behaved, although the film was masked off by a bit when it began. Popcorn and soda were good, and pretty soon Coca Cola Zero will be offered as a fountain drink just in time for the new James Bond movie, as soda cups have “Coca Cola Zero Zero Seven”.
Hopefully their new parter IMAX stock is not going down anytime soon, as well as National Cinemedia’s stock, which is now in the dumps.

hopefully it’s cleaner this time around!!!

I hope the new Muvico in East Rutherford has those Sony projectors.

Back in 1996, the Sixplex held a charity showing, which is something that it never does anymore since Clearview took over.

Like screen #4. The showing of Bollywood films is something that the AMC in Rockaway lacks.

BTW, has attendance at this theater dropped because of the slowing economy at the nearby mall?

This is the second time that this place is for sale. I hope to attend a performance at this venue once new ownership takes place.

my mistake..it will be a digital flat imax theater. transformers 2 is the first film that will be shown.
Or Frankenstein, The Mummy, or Van Helsing!!!

I would love to check this theater out sometime, but don’t have enough money to go see a show or a movie there.
