This actually opened on the 24th not the 25th, and the opening films were “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Assignment South Pacific”. “State Fair” was screened the next night. I’ve uploaded the opening weeks program ad in two parts.
I also agree that it was never actually built. The two proposed locations (Gooding Rd and Tupelo St) show no signs at all of any drive-in construction.
The 2019 street view shows the bottom half of the marquee is still being used for the Atlantic Restaurant. The top arrow part with the drive-in name is gone.
Gerald Peterson was the last owner through his company Peterson Theatres. It was sold in 1989 after being on the market for 5 years to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
If you look on their careers page there is a mention of “Nationwide Theatres Corp”. Company information for this lists Christopher Forman as the key person so it looks like its still under that family’s ownership.

Looks like its final season was 1998, a tornado ended up taking out the screen.
