This theatre might be the one seen in an Episode of The Doctor Blake Mysreries(season 2, episode 5 – Crossing the line), where the projectionest was found dead after the theatre was evacuted after a fure in tne projection room.
The entrance(and exit) is in a different place to when it was Grand cinemas Whitfords(the escalators and lift(and stairs are gone(that part(downstairs section) is now part of the food hall undernath. I think the hole get filled when Event Cinemas Whitfords was rebuilt on the floor of the former Grand Cinemas Whitfords. The entrance(and exit) is on the western side of the rebuilt outside area on the western side of the building, next to Whitford City Shopping Centres own(and new) brewery.

The screen was been slashed by vandals about 1 week before reopening for the season.The screen can’t be fixed. They will have to use an old screen.
Called the Rex Theatre(or cinema?)(made up name for the episode) in the episode.

Mike Rogers, the Laurel and Hardy movie you mentioned, might be “Laurel and Hardy’s Laughing 20’s”(by Robert Youngson). I have it on video tape.
