went to see Bumblebee in theater #7 and ordered tickets in advance. The picture was kinda windowboxed as there was no masking. The picture was bright and sharp and the 3d was pretty good. Was this movie shot in 3d or converted into 3d? I know a few transformers movies were shot in 3d, including the last few especially Dark of the Moon which was the last transformers movie i saw in 3d. The sound mix was very good despite hearing rumbles from the next auditorium showing Aquaman in IMAX. Popcorn was good although there were a few kernels left in the bag and the coke zero orange was good enough for me to sit through the movie. This movie will have legs and i saw a few kids in the seats who behaved well. Some of the seats still squeak.
saw vice in theater #14. preshow was sharp and audio was great. The film was enjoyable and food was good. No masking on the very upper point of the screen.
The New York Papers still show the listings for this theater although more people tend to look online for showtimes. How is the 3d alignment at this theater? Where I live in rockaway 3d is hit or miss; same with imax.
To all my british friends on CT, happy Boxing Day, and to a few, happy kwanzaa, and to myself, a happy birthday to me!!! Best wishes for a Happy new year after a great christmas yesterday. May 2019 be a banner year for this famous theater.
i went to see aquaman in imax after reserving my seat online using my gift card; i saved a lot of money after buying two tickets for C15 and C16 as the back seats were full. The preshow started a few minutes later while it was going on without any audio for awhile but it was back on. Coke Zero Sugar tasted good and the popcorn wasn’t that bad at all. As for the movie, it was worth seeing in IMAX and for the avengers trailer in imax. Some scenes in the film, especially when it’s underwater, fill up the screen, this is about 90 percent of the film, the other ten percent are scenes that take place in the real world. Make sure you stay after the main credits for a bonus scene. This movie will last long into the spring once its said and done. The sound mix was pretty good as the seats rumbled; it wasn’t dolby but are there subwoofers underneath those seats? I prefer IMAX since imax has more seats than dolby.
came back from seeing The Mule in theater #11. The picture wasn’t masked properly although the way the subtitles were shown in the movie were good enough. Sound mix was well done and crowd was good. They need to make the drinks taste better in those coke freestyle machines. And the popcorn is too salty!!! I will attempt to go see Aquaman in Imax or regular if the imax sells out.
kinda sucks that Aquaman won’t be in Dolby at this theater (Mary Poppins had its sneak peek two days ago in Dolby much like how AMC did with A Star Is Born) but in Liemax and Fake 3d. I’m going to see The Mule this weekend as it is one of the few movies that are rated R. Too many PG-13 films that are being aimed at younger people and families, including Bumblebee which is getting the best reviews of any live action Transformers movie and will have a long shelf life in the weeks to come.
While the rest of the mall is being renovated (mostly the mall building itself and not Rockaway Town Plaza where this theater is) this theater needs some renovation work besides the Dolby theater and the soon to be laser digital imax theater. I enjoy sitting all the way in the back to get a good view even though sometimes people walk in front of the screen sometimes.
went to see both Green Book and Widows. For Widows, there was no masking resulting in some credits being cut off for several trailers, while for Green Book, which was shot in a 2.00 aspect ratio, there was masking and the picture was perfect. Unlike watching movies on regular size HDTVS, the projectors at AMC have off color balance and can be a bit blurry at times yet the sound can be very loud sometimes, causing bleeding effects into other screens. I have yet to see a movie in Dolby as I’ve seen a movie in IMAX digital 2k, Imax 70mm, imax digital 3d, reald 3d, 2k, and 4k. Today was the last day I was on the AMC Premiere list as I went back to regular. The tickets were 6.49 so it went up a bit.
Yes. Second place has to be the lincoln square imax, which is an hour away from where i live. I was watching about 45 minutes of Teen Titans Go to the movies, and there’s a cartoon version of the chinese as the superheroes go to the premiere of a superhero movie. It’s also featured in Scooby Doo goes to Hollywood as well.
If you own a Tesla car and drive it to the theater, there are tesla charging lots near the theater that were built awhile ago so u can recharge your car!!! Now only if they add reserved seating to all screens and replace the 12 year old seats with recliners for the imax and 14 screens that have the Loews seats. There’s also a Predator poster from back in October that should be replaced. Bathrooms need to be cleaned more often.
what a shame…btw, interstellar is the correct spelling, and happy new year to this venue, which will open soon…

why did it close?
Why can’t Nitehawk expand to other locations in the tri-state?
40 years ago today Superman made his debut in 70mm six track dolby and made history.
Superman made its debut here 40 years ago when it was a twin in Dolby Stereo.
Looks like someone misspelled Close Encounters…
As of this weekend, reserved seating is now in all screens.
On this date 40 years ago, Superman premiered in Dolby Stereo.

a few weeks ago someone saved a choking victim’s life at this theater.

Too much money!!!
This building is featured in the ps4 spiderman video game that came out a few months ago.
Is this theatre popular with American and Canadian audiences who visit London while on business or pleasure?
Most of the seats in each complex were sloped seating, unlike the stadium seating that its successor has.
