I saw Godzilla vs. Megalon at the State in 1976 when it was released in the US… It was playing mostly “B” movies, and I don’t think it lasted much longer.
This building IS NOT demolished. It is currently a cafe. Also, the correct address is 838 NW 23rd St, Portland Oregon.
Here’s a Google Map linky, you can clearly see it’s the same building…

As of 2024, demolished along with the building next to it.
As of 2024, vacant.
Brew pub / performance space.
Currently a dance studio…
Labeled in Google Maps as “Zap City Hall”…
Currently the clubhouse for outlaw motorcycle gang Son’s of Silence.

Demolished.
Building is still there, with an added peaked roof. Looks like an American Legion hall.
Retail space.
The Grand is currently showing films.
Gone.
This theater is open for both movies and space rental.

Converted to apartments.
The marquee is gone, as is the building next to it.
I remember when this theater opened. They put several long time single screens out of business. Glad to see them go.
The marquee is long gone, it is currently retail space.
The marquee is still there, though looking very shabby.
Must be a bad neighborhood, they have installed formidable prison-like bars around the entrance.
As of 2022, there is a café on the ground floor, and the rest is commercial office space.
The more modern half is residential.
The façade is somewhat restored from the Glory Days of Stucco in the 80’s and 90’s. Upstairs still seems deserted.
