So the Wehrenberg name is officially off the theatre? Wow.

Went here for the first time on 1/5/19 and saw a film in the Dolby Cinema room. The screen is one of the largest for a Dolby out of all the AMC DFW locations. Sound and picture are great but the bass transponders built into the seats didn’t function with the same impact as other Dolby auditoriums. IMAX room looked decent for a LieMax. All in all, a pretty decent theatre.

Went here for the first time today. 90’s era relic that could use a 21st century lobby refresh. But the screens were big – although that 80 foot designation is a bit too much – and the sound system was really nice.

Not a fan of this location. Decor is nice like most SMG’s but the sound is TERRIBLE! Your living room soundbar or home theatre will pump more wattage than this theatre does!

This might be the single best sounding theatre in ALL of North Dallas. High quality with thundering bass in even the smallest of their auditoriums.

Why go to a fake drive-in when there’s one off the 105 & Paramount Blvd. and another off the 605 & Valley Blvd?

This is a totally MEH AMC location that got a Dolby Cinema auditorium in early summer 2018. Theatre is lifeless and void of personality.

Yeah, the description needs a bit more cleanup.

Opened showing mainstream Switched to porn and the trouble with the city occurred Wehrenberg took over in 1977 and it stopped showing porn Closed in 1980 and now a junkyard

Facts on this drive-in need to be corrected. It opened as Olympic. Name changed to Rock Road when Wehrenberg took over in 1977 and it closed in 1980.

You can see the wrecked and tattered remains of Valley View with the AMC portion of the complex still standing as you travel the 635 freeway. Frankly, they really should put the theatre out of its misery.

Answering an earlier question about why El Cap doesn’t show movies in 3D: It’s technically a Dolby Cinema house. Doesn’t use the Dolby Cinema name but it’s the same technical framework: Dolby Vision HDR projection plus Dolby Atmos audio. I have yet to see a Dolby Vision/Cinema house equipped for 3D. Frankly, it doesn’t need it! It’s presentation is already the best in the business…topped only by full screen 70MM IMAX.

Justice League was shot in 1.85:1. Zack Snyder intentionally shot it that way because 1.85:1 will fill 85% of a TrueIMAX screen as opposed to 2:35 sitting smack dab in the center of the screen. Never saw the IMAX version so can’t confirm if any scenes were shot with IMAX cameras.

Overrated movie theatre in an overcrowded mall with bad bad parking!

Went here in early August 2017. Lots of personality for an AMC. The Prime auditorium is now a Dolby Cinema auditorium – and the BEST ONE I’ve been to!

The zoning war between this place and LOOK is over. They’re both showing the same titles day and date.

Again, it’s the same tech used for the 2016 Jungle Book remake

Substitute the phrase “Live Action” with Photorealistic. “Live Action” is a distinction between hand drawn animated cartoons vs Photorealistic movement, backgrounds and activity. But it’s still all animated. Disney with all their power isn’t gonna make a herd of lions and hyenas speak.

Big Joe: They’re using the same technique as the highly successful Jungle Book remake where the animals were 100% photorealistic CGI and there was only 1 human character in the film. The film was shot on soundstages where the jungle environment was digitally recreated as well.

Saw 70MM Dunkirk on 7/29/17. Amazing presentation. The theatre itself is very nice. Leather recliners all around and 2 onsite restaurants. Concessions and tickets are way overpriced for Dallas. But it’s a good theatre.

Saw Dunkirk here on 7/22/2017 in the IMAX room. Truly top notch IMAX presentation! This’ll be my go to for IMAX in the city!

Chris Utley commented about Christopher Nolan’s new film Dunkirk is being projected on 70mm film in 125 theaters on Jul 24, 2017 at 6:04 pm

In Dallas, the Cinemark 17 & IMAX located at 635 & Webb Chapel is the premier presentation of Dunkirk in the city. The presentation was absolutely amazing. Image filled the entire screen for roughly 70% of the film and the sound mix was top notch.

First visited here on 7/3/2017 (also my first day as a Texas resident). In a word: WOW! This place is paradise for movie nerds! From the tailor made film specific preshow to the various alternative programming featuring classic and obscure films, Alamo is THE BUSINESS!! If only the food were a little better…
