I bet if you really explored you would have found them.To cut off the heating/air system at the Imperial one had to go under the stage and it looked just like a Boris Karloff movie down there.
Golly, You sound more and more like me.On my night off my date,Bev and me would catch a movie.Wouldn’t go anywhere else.Always a movie and always at a ABC/plitt theatre in Augusta where i always got in free and did not wait in a line.God bless that girl.
You make a great point and one i never thought about, when i hit 40 i got reading glasses and never thought about it.What guess i was saying i was in the business when Senssround came out of Universal with “EarthQuake” and when the earthquake hit those big bass speakers shook the old Imperial theatre and I Guess it helped. when “MIDWAY” came out it to played in Sensround, but the movie was good enough not really needed to crank it up when the airplanes were starting up,but they did.Time “Rollercoster” came out it played at another theatre in town without the Sesuround and I thought the movie was good by itself without the silly sound effects.“Battlestar Gallatica” was also released in Senssround, but here I don’t think had the real set up like the Imperial Did.You know we helped Universal drag those large speakers in in the balcony and in front of the screen in 1974 or 1976 for $15.00 bucks an hour and you know those bums never paid us.
I saw some 3-D movies while at Universal Studios and quite frankly it was a good experience, but I wouldn’t want to sit wearing glasses through a two hour movie Can’t we just enjoy a simple movie without all the glitter,Is it Glitter because lack of story telling?
I never did see “BRAINSTORM”,but a big Natalie Wood, having met her wonderful sister.Lana.I can only hope she was as nice as Lana. I hope they were able to make the final shots with her respectable and not what they did to Bruce Lee in “Game of Death”.
I think in the middle to late 60’s Albert Weis, theatre owner in Savannah built several outdoor screens in Georgia, I think Macon might have had one,but i don’t have that info.Hopefully, someone else will.
Outdoor theatres seem to own quite a few drive-ins in its day, butI guess it was bought out by a larger circuit? I know Georgia Theatres came a got a lot of drive-ins during the 60’s.
I think when Albert Weis started Expanding his theatres,he built a Drive-in in Savannah, most likely in the mid to late 60’s,hopefully someone can get the facts on Weis'operation.
I have heard stories from locals how this was a popular Drive-in,but the best i could get is it was built outside the city limits heading to Macon, but they could be thinking of another Drive-in and I don’t live in Savannah.
Albert Weis Built cinemas and Drive-ins in Georgia during the late 60’s to early 70’s with Martin theatres in firm control of Columbus I bet this Savannah,Georgia showman stayed out of Columbus.

I think Pernell Roberts was from Waycross. And Burt Reynolds dad was the chief of police here i think that is what i was told.
Thanks Stan for the pictures.
Yeah, I agree with you on the PC stuff.
I had two friends in Flordia that videotaped quite a few closed Drive-ins in Flordia.Got on the back roads and had a ball.
it is the Little Theatre I have pictures of it.
What great Tribute to two Great actors.I wish the Duke would have lived to do the third planned “Rooster Cogburn” movie “Someday”.

I had friend tell me this was a nice Drive-in in its time, but a bad section of Macon now.
Any extra info would be great.Wish i had addresses.
Any help would be great as i try and get all of Georgia’s larger cities drive-ins on CT.

I think Highway 21 is also called Augusta Road.

The smallest of Columbus' drive-ins might be the hardest to get info on.
Hopefully, some Army folks stationed at Fort Benning in the late 50’s early 60’s will be able to add to the Morris Road Drive-in.
