Highway 21 is a popular road for drive-ins. Savannah’s Highway 21 Drive-In is long gone. The one in Beaufort, SC. is still going.
The Highway 21 Drive-In was small for a city the size of Savannah, just parking 200 cars making it the smallest of Savannah’s six drive-ins. It was located in the Garden City district to the north of Savannah.
In 1953, the Highway 21 Drive-In was owned by Gus Hayes. It is also known to have operated as an African-American drive-in theatre.
