Lou Wolf was a good friend of the owner of a West Side business I worked at in the 1960s. Whenever he would come around, everybody would literally hide, he was so creepy.

Trolleyguy commented about Entrance from the mall on Jun 28, 2019 at 5:53 am

After the mall closes at 9PM, a gate is pulled across the hallway and patrons have to enter and exit the theatre from the rear parking lot. If their cars were parked in the front or side mall lots, they will have to walk around the outside of the mall to get to them.

The Cameron YMCA is at that site now. Their website and Facebook page has skating activities, possibly in the gym. There is also a single screen first run movie theatre operating at the YMCA now called the Tyrell Theatre. Probably a remnant of the former 4-plex. Status should be open, showing movies.

A former quarry makes sense. Years ago, once the aggregate had been removed from the quarries, they became dump sites for garbage and worse.

Trolleyguy commented about Shepherd of the Hills Drive-In on May 14, 2019 at 7:25 am

There was a community founded in the early 1900s in this area by a preacher who was looking for a better way of life. Today it is a theme park of sorts in Branson called the Shepherd of the Hills with rustic buildings and a dramatic live performance given outdoors every night.

It appears that blackout covers were put on the marquee because of wartime restrictions regarding unnecessary nighttime lights.

That date for the picture is incorrect. “The Furies” was released in 1950. The automobiles in the picture date from the late 1940s and early 50s.
