Looked over at what is left of NATIONAL HILLS the theatre itself is all that is standing.Everything else gone. The Marquee,Long gone. Box office, that beautiful lobby and concessions.Everything but the old theatre. Cold Georgia rain hitting the roof.THey cut every thing off that complete theatre like cancer.
If you were Drive by you could see the auditorium standing alone. I wish they would take a wrecking ball and put it out of its misery. It is a pity that theatre could have not been saved.But who has the money. And this story can be told I know in hundreds of cities in this great country.
Yassenoff owned several Drive ins in Columbus. WEST FIFTH AUTO, EAST SIDE DRIVE IN and Milton Yassenoff owned the SOUTH HI DRIVE IN in that city in 1956.

DIANE TWIN DRIVE IN THEATRE is now equipped with RADIO SOUND. “The best drive-in sound you have ever heard.”
It’s as easy as 1-2-3.
1.Pull up to a post and park.
2. Turn ignition to accessory position
3. Tune radio to 580 am or 88.5 fm.
The DIANE 29 had car speakers on front of concession.
ADMISSION was $3.00 adults.
IT was a FB Theatre when radio sound was in. Never heard of FB theatres.
Sure wish someone from that area could check on the above story.
I good friend took me to the lot the Fox was on;and this has been at least 10 years are longer. I took a viedo camera hoping to get something on film.Nothing but a Concession foundation and high weeds.
He took me to another closed Drive in in Charlotte and homeless people were living there so we drove on.
I noticed you were from North Carolina and had the Diane 29 Drive in listed as a favorite theatre,If you get a chance acouple of months ago i wrote about a story I was told about the Diane 29 Drive in and i wondered for years if the story was true,
I thought by now some of these drive in newshounds would have confirmed the story or nix it.
I found that picture of the theatre mentioned above it was called THE BECON and not far from the GA. FLA. line on US 1.SHOULD have wrote the name of the town on it.

My 1956 ALMANAC shows 600 cars and was owned by Associated Drive-in : E. Stern.
In 1956 it parked 450 cars and was owned by W.Queen.

Yes, many managers would live on the site in tiny apartments under the screen. that is not unheard of.

IN 1956 it was parking 500 cars and was owned at that time by D. Rothstien.
You are right on the 500 cars in 1956 it was owned by F.P.C.C. so in the late 50’s it was open.
