One of Charlotte’s nine drive-ins. It operated from July 14, 1960 with Alan Ladd in “The Badlanders” & Frank Sinatra in “Never So Few”. It operated through the 1980’s and held 250 cars. It was a porn theatre for many years. It was demolished in 1989.

The drive-in was destroyed in 1989 due to Hurricane Hugo.
I good friend took me to the lot the Fox was on;and this has been at least 10 years are longer. I took a viedo camera hoping to get something on film.Nothing but a Concession foundation and high weeds.
He took me to another closed Drive in in Charlotte and homeless people were living there so we drove on.
Now AmeriGas. Approx. address for this drive-in was 7221 Old Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28269.
we shot a video, but forgot about this picture..that was all we could find..
It appears that the Fox opened on July 14, 1960, based on a short story in the Aug. 1 issue of Boxoffice: “The gala opening of the new Fox Drive-In on old Statesville road was celebrated Thursday (14). The driver of each car was admitted free and many prizes were provided for patrons attending the initial screen program. The double feature opener bracketed Alan Ladd and Ernest Borgnine in "The Badlanders” and Frank Sinatra in “Never So Few.”
