The building still stands. Now known as the Midwest Apartments, offering subsidized low to moderate income rental units. When I worked in the neighborhood in the ‘50s, the Midwest was an SRO hotel with long-term guests. These included a number of professional ladies who would meet their clients upstairs for services.
We walked by this theatre earlier in the week. There is plywood covering the Washington Street entrance and some kind of construction work going on inside.
The map is way off. A more accurate address would be 139 W Washington.
The manager of the next door antique mall said that the theatre’s owner was a retired military vet who essentially runs it as a hobby. He sells books out of there and occasionally will host live musical performances. A current photo has been uploaded.
I met my first wife at the Holiday Ballroom on Halsted in 1966. The same operator also ran the north side Holiday Ballroom in the old Times Theatre on Milwaukee north of Lawrence.

The exterior of this theatre was on a recent episode of the TV show “Forensic Files.”
There is a low-rise building at that address. Status should be demolished.
Status should be closed: renovating
Could be. My info came from the theatre owner in reply to an inquiry I made.
Closed August 2014 and purchased by new owners in July 2015. Officially reopened October 23 2015 under the name of Cedar Street Cinemas.
Address is off. Should be 1301 Kalahari Drive Baraboo WI 53913. The theatre is visible on Street View at this address.
Now a church. The poster boxes are still evident alongside the entrance.

According to the regional newspaper, movie screenings will return on a regular basis in 2017.

Just added a recent night shot in Photos.

Unless this theatre is being renovated for some kind of performance space, the status should simply be closed.
This theatre was featured on “American Pickers” TV show tonight. They sold the some old film reels and a Beatles film.
I have always been leery of crowdfunding campaigns which benefit for-profit operators.
And now the Kmart is closed.
Now called the Vine Cinema & Alehouse. Serving food and alcohol. Updated website link: http://www.vinecinema.com/
