In a stunning blow to moviegoers in Southern California, the owner of Pacific Theatres and ArcLight Cinemas said Monday the popular cinema locations will not reopen as Hollywood struggles to recover from the pandemic.
More info: This opened as Mounds Cinema on Christmas Day, 1970 with “Tora! Tora! Tora!” on December 25th, 1970. It was taken over by Kerasotes Theatres in 1978, who on January 10th, 1979 fired its union projectionists and replaced the booths with automated equipment. 2 screens on September 21st, 1979, and three on December 21st, 1979. It was renamed Showplace 4 on December 12th, 1986, and closed in 2002.
Closed for good in 1975.
