The reason why Loews State 4 closed was because of the AMC merger. AMC at the time had the busiest theater in the country (long before bedbugs took over) with the Empire 25 across the street from Loews' much larger E Walk 13 theater. It was nearly two years after Loews Cineplex sold the Astor Plaza theater before it became the Best Buy/Playstation Theatre. Regal would soon take over the EWalk and the rest is history. I remember going into the Virgin Megastore while on a trip with the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton’s teen group and looked at all the massive CD collections. I didn’t have enough money so i just browsed the store, which was more popular than the movie theater inside the store. Sadly the store became a forever 21.
For New Jersey moviegoers, in addition to AMC GS16, the AMC’s in hamilton and cherry hill will have 70mm installed for the release of this movie, making it the first time a 70mm will be played in those theatres. Surprisingly, no reserved seating for 70mm in those venues. As for the sound mix, I saw it in digital imax in rockaway and was underwhelmed. He also did this in the batman movies where surround sound and music overlapped the dialogue, unlike the home media releases where it’s fixed.

advance tickets went on sale for Dunkirk in digital imax only. So far, no one has bought tickets yet but will sell fast soon…btw i think amc’s website is slow as mollasses so i always go to fandango for faster speed.
also Imax digital will show it in 1.9 for the imax scenes and 2.20 for the non imax shots. digital will be 2.20 with proper masking for the entire movie.
I agree. The sound mix on bluray is better than the theatrical version. Maybe I’ll wait until dunkirk hits bluray in an r rated director’s cut. 1 hour 47 minutes is too short for a nolan movie.
Nowadays AMC sells gourmet food in addition to popcorn to increase sales at its theatres.
Row J is a good idea.
During the star wars reissue in 1979, the inners had dolby stereo. This reissue featured the teaser trailer to Empire Strikes Back.
Dolby moved back to August 1.

Since it’s an AMC now, expect renovations to make it more like an AMC and less a Carmike.
Once the dolby cinema opens the seating count will be reduced greatly.
it’s gonna be closer to my side…

It’s because of the lease expiration.
wow…how is the projection compared to the bluray release?
thebrat, watch out for possible delays on penn. Thank god I live near an upcoming Dolby Cinema in Rockaway within driving distance.
This theater is jokingly referred to as “AMC Bedbug 25” on social media due to the ongoing bedbug problems at this venue.
that’s scary….where i go they have the ac on in rockaway in all screens!!!

It will be worth the traffic to get there so I’ll take the train lol.
Dunkirk will be shown in 70mm when it opens in a few weeks.
the theater will open in two weeks just in time for Dunkirk. Tickets for the movie in all formats go on sale Friday.
What a shame….
By 1969 the apostrophe was removed and it became Loews. Under Sony ownership did it get SDDS in the theater?
One of the first theatres in the world to have stadium seating?
Do the trains still go through this building?
