I suppose this theater was near the Cairo, which would answer my question on that page about the address. I don’t know if I would put either theater in the downtown area, however.
Here is an early photo of the America, from the SF Library. After the Iroquois Theater fire of 1903 in Chicago, which resulted in 602 deaths, many buildings went out of their way to advertise that they were fireproof and “safe”.

The address above would put the theater near Century Boulevard in South Los Angeles. Is that correct?
I think Cosmo is referring to the “Hungry i”, a noted comedy club, and not the country in Eastern Europe.
That would be the San Francisco Public Library, of course. I am going for some coffee to wake up.
