Don Lewis commented about Rose Theater on Feb 23, 2008 at 6:06 pm

A photo promoting the 1941 version of “The Black Cat” starring Bela Lugosi and Basil Rathbone. Also in the photo is Jeff Hardin. Mr. Hardin had a very successful career selling advertising for the Wallace Theater chain for many years.
This photo was probably taken in 1941 at the Rose Theater in Andrews.
The contirbutor of this posting, David Stoebner is correct about the ownership of the Rose, the Mustang Drive-In and in addtion to that the Wallace Theater in Andrews which were all owned by Wallace Blankenship.

A mid 1930s photo of the original Wallace theater in Levelland. The man standing in the center is Wallace Blankenship founder of Wallace theaters.

The truck is present as part of a promotion of the movie “West Point of the Air” starring Wallace Beery and Robert Young around 1935.

(Notice that the theater preceded paved streets in Levelland.)
