Looks like AMC isn’t showing an IMAX trilogy of batman movies, just the digital version for thursday July 19th. Tickets are just $25 for the epic marathon. No midnight showing for digital IMAX Dark Knight rises, just opening day. I’m sure tickets will sell out for sure.
Saw prometheus in 2d, projection was pretty good and surround sound was awesome. Only thing i moan about is that some trailers that are attached to movies that debut online i can’t see at this theater. Like, Django Unchained. The theater wasn’t packed as madagascar 3.
For those who want to see Prometheus in Imax 3D, notice the aspect ratio….it is 2:0.1, as I saw in the last trailer before Men in Black 3 and The Avengers 3D.
Dolby is installing its new Atmos system in this theater for Disney’s Brave 3D movie, becoming one of the first theaters in the world to be equipped with 62.2 surround sound. I guess it will be on the AMC ETX screen. Makes sense, because that auditorium (which is the second largest besides the Imax)has the ability to deliver multiple speakers.
advance tickets for TDKR go on sale one week from today at noon EST; a dark knight trilogy marathon will be shown on July 19th. Batman Begins was the first batman movie to be mastered for IMAX, as the second and final movies were partially to fully shot with imax cameras.
Actually they went into effect at noon that day. Dark Knight Rises advance tickets go on sale next week at noon. AMC will also do a dark knight trilogy marathon that consists of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and then the final movie, which looks like it’s going to be the longest Batman movie ever.
Friday AMC raised prices for its theaters in the tristate area of NYC. My local amc in rockaway still sells tickets for $6 for am showings, only in nj. Not in NYC, where most of the box office traffic in the area comes from. $21 dollars for imax 3d once prometheus comes out.
Ticket pieces are up to $11.50 when I looked up advance showings for Prometheus 2d. When did this happen? This will make it the most expensive ticket in Morris county nj for a regular 2d digital showing.
Other than seeing “avengers 3d” for a second time (Lens issues were fixed), i saw “MIB 3” IMAX 3D and enjoyed it. The 3D conversion was pretty good, and the surround sound awesome. Enjoyed the 3D 6 minute trailer for the Amazing Spider-Man, which looks great in 3D.
Currently the theater is being expanded this weekend as CityPlex 12. The theater will have a soft opening this weekend followed by a grand opening for the 4th of July holiday. The largest screen in the revamped theater will be called the Shaq-EX Premium Theatre Experience with a 43-foot large screen and 3D projection, stadium seating and digital surround sound. All auditoriums will have 7.1 Dolby surround sound, digital 3D and 2D projection, and stadium seating. More info can be found at the theatre’s facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CityPlexNewark
My dad first saw star wars in Paramus with a bunch of friends. He loved it so much he went to see it multiple times with other friends and relatives, including me, when the film was rereleased for the last time in cinemas in 1997 in the ugly special edition. That edition will be enchanced for 3D three years from now when it returns to theaters for a limited engagement.
Great movie. Wonder if its a dcp or a 35mm print? I found out via amazon.com that they’re showing it a day before the bluray debut. The bluray has a lot of special features as well as a music cd featuring the hit soundtrack by vangelis.
The conversion of the movie was terrible, the way the screen was projected was quite blurry, especially when it got closer to showtime (mostly for the 3D films). The surround sound was pretty good and quiet and times but got louder with the action. The new Dark Knight trailer looked sharp and very bright despite the theater deciding to keep the lights on with the trailers playing (they turned it off before the Brave trailer was over). The trailer show was started after the amc first look was stopped near its end.
some people who go to amc are complaining about the deal on the company’s facebook page and emailing the company and tweeting amc about how china will handle what will become the largest cinema chain in the world. Regal is still the largest in America.

The last 70mm non-imax film that i saw at a theater was a documentary about Williamsburg made in 1957 that lacks the opening and closing credits of the 35mm version. That version is the longest running 70mm film ever. As for the Paris, it’s NYC’s version of Cinema Paradiso.
I agree. The Rockaway and Garden State theaters as well as clifton commons are like big cookie cutter megaplexes with overhyped movies and few indie movies. The only theater that AMC operates well is the AMC in Lincoln Square, due to its profitable IMAX screen, which is still the largest in NYC.
If Clearview Cinemas is sold, they should sell the Mansfield 14 to a chain like Regal lol, since regal owns the Pohatcong 12-plex in p-burg, or maybe Cinemark, which owns the stroud mall 7. Perhaps Carmike can buy the theater. No one goes to mansfield anymore except the lucky few who live around that theater.
Saw avengers in reald 3d and while the movie was a good one the 3d sucked. There were two 2d trailers and four 3d trailers. Can’t wait for Prometheus in 3d!!!!

I agree markp. Price changes go into effect at midnight on June 1st.

Looks like Wanda group is buying AMC for 2.6 billion making them the largest cinema corporation in the world.

This theater is not too far from MSG.
How does the sunshine compare with other indie houses in NYC?

Can’t wait to visit the new ALamo in NYC.
I enjoy reading newspaper ads and reading what movies the Forum plays is interesting. Glad that this place is still in business in the big apple.
