Herald Announcing the Opening Of The Mount Vernon Open Air Theatre

The Mt. Vernon Drive-In opened by E. M. Loew’s Theatres on August 15, 1938 with Claudette Colbert in “Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife”. It was sold to Redstone Drive-In Theaters in 1962 and modernized. In 1978 a second screen was added. At its closing in 1984, it had a capacity for 969 cars. The drive-in was demolished and replaced by the Mount Vernon Multiplex Cinema.
