The Green Acres Auto Theatre opened on May 27, 1948 with a cartoon “The Wacky Worm” & Fennis Morgan in “Cheyenne”. It had a capacity for 500 cars. A few years before closing the Green Acres Drive-In switched to adult movies. It closed around 1982.

I just added a photo of the Grand Opening Ad
The opening ad was delayed until June 1948. More info at Wsasser’s picture.
Opened on 27/5/1948 with “Wacky worm” and “Cheyenne”.
No longer the place to be.
Actual closing date is September 26, 1982.
Taken over by Martin Theatres in October 1969 after the chain purchased all seven Gordon Theaters in the Newport News area, including the Green Acres.
