The Gateway Cinema is actually a 6 screen cinema and was not part of the sale to Regal. It along with the other Kalispell theatres is still owned and operated by Signature.
Also, this theater will close later this summer as Signature will open a new 14 screen location at Hutton Ranch Plaza on the north end of the city.
The Gateway will go dark after shows on August 1. Plans are underway for this complex to be reconfigured into office space.
Thanks for the info Doug.
Boxoffice, Dec. 6, 1976: “Tim Warner has taken over the buying and booking chores for Spence Ryder in Kalispell, Mont. Warner will be setting dates for the Strand and Liberty theatres, the Midway and Sundown drive-ins and the newly erected Gateway Theatre.”
First 2 screens opened on December 24th, 1976. Grand opening ad posted.
