Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre was opened on May 7, 1913 with pictures and vaudeville. It was later taken over by Florida State Theatres Inc. who closed it on June 9, 1942. It was reopened on April 5, 1946 with Jimmy Wakely in “Saddle Serenade”. It was closed in June 1953.

There are pictures of it in the book “Florida’s Eden: An Illustrated History of Alachua County”.

The Lyric Theatre, after being reopened on April 5th, 1946, shuttered its doors for the final time in June 1953.
