The WGAT Drive-In was opened October 4, 1949. On April 3, 1955 the WGAT Drive-In, New Hartford, NY is sold to the Kallet Theaters Inc. chain for $135,000. John Tector, who shared ownership with Eric Williams of Radio Station WGAT, will continue to manage the theatre under its new name of Kallet Drive-In. It was renamed New Hartford Drive-In on April 3, 1958. Car capacity was given at 750. Caroll’s Development took over in the early-1970’s. It was closed in 1986, last operated by CinemaNational.

The last chain to run this Drive-In was CinemaNational. The drive-in closed in the early 80’s, along with its neighboring hardtop, the Cinema New Hartford.
This was originally called the WGAT Drive-in, named after the local AM radio station which owned it. They opened on October 4, 1949 and their final season was in 1983. It was sold to Kallet Theatres in 1955 and was renamed the New Hartford Drive-in in 1956.
Kallet owned another drive-in near Utica, in Marcy, which was called the Kallet Drive-in until they renamed it the Marcy Drive-in after they bought the WGAT Drive-in.
The site of the New Hartford Drive-in is currently a shopping plaza. The address of the former drive-in is 4500 Commercial Drive, Utica, NY 13413.
Opened with “On our merry way”, “Curley”, “Wacky by baby” and “Four faces west”.
Closed in 1986. The shopping plaza is called Cicero Market Shopping Centre, anchored by a Wal-Mart.
