The West Lane Theatre was a drive-in theatre which opened on June 29, 1962 with Doris Day in “That Touch of Mink” & “Devil at 4 O'Clock”. The drive-in had space for 720 cars. Later a second screen was added, named Hammer Theatre, which had a capacity for 780-cars. It was closed in the early-1970’s and part of the site became a skateboard park. It was demolished in September 1986 and was replaced by a Cosco in 1987.

I went to that as a kid. It was actually a 3 screen not a 1 screen. It was replaced by a Waterslide/mini golf area then eventually a Costco joined in.
The Westlane theater was built in the late 50’s. Both theaters were designed by Rodda Harvey Sr.(my grandfather) The Hammer construction foreman was Rotus Harvey (my father). The son of our General Manger and I were on the Hammer lane job site as our first paying job(circa 1967). The Westlane and Hammer had a capacity of approximately 1500 cars. The triangular parcel adjacent to the intersection of Hammer and West Lane was sold to Golfland in the early 70’s. The property also hosted a short lived skateboard park. The theaters and undeveloped property were sold to Costco Inc. in the mid 80’s.
The West Lane Drive-In opened on June 29th, 1962, with a screen that’s larger than 3,000 TV sets. Grand opening ads posted.

Demolished In Late September 1986. The Costco That Sits In Its Site Would Later Open The Following Year In 1987.
This is a twin! Not a triple! It had twin box offices but a single cooncession stand…
The bigger screen was at the address above. The smaller one was at 7272 West Ln, Stockton, CA 95210. Near Hammertown Rd. Hence the confusion over the name…
Please update. 2 screens only!
