Opened by Kent Theatres Inc. on December 23, 1964 with Elvis Presley in “Roustabout” & a short subject “The Dave Clark Five”. It became a triplet on December 22, 1978. Saw “Alien” at a midnight show sometime in the mid-1990’s. Wasn’t a very appealing place. It expanded to 6-screens on May 19, 1995. It was closed in 1999.

When I worked for Eastern Federal (EFC) in Jacksonville during the early 1980’s, the St. John’s 4, Plaza, and Neptune theatres were all operated by Kent Theatres, a regional operator, with theatres throughout Florida. At that time, Kent Theatres HQ was at the Plaza Theatre in the Southside section of Jacksonville.
Opened on December 23rd, 1964 and reopened with 3 screens on December 22nd, 1978. Grand opening ads posted.
6 screens on May 19th, 1995. Ad posted.
Closed in 1999 after everyone preferred the new megaplex cinemas.
