ABC Cinema Fishponds

The Vandyck Picture House opened on 5th November 1926. It was taken over by Associated British Cinemas(ABC) in April 1930 and became a second run suburban cinema for that circuit in Bristol.

It was re-named ABC Fishponds in 1967 and was closed in 1973. It became a bingo club which eventually closed in around 1996. The building stood empty for a while until it was taken over by the J.D. Wetherspoon chain of pubs. Usually their architects do a good job in conserving the buildings they take over, but in the case of the Fishponds, they only renovated the exterior of the building. The interior was gutted. Since December 1997 it has been known as the Vandyck Forum pub.
