Located in the Kingswood district of Bristol. The Kingsway Kinema was built in 1926, and opened in 1927. The exterior façade was in a stone facing with decorative trimmings across the top. Seating inside the auditorium was provided in stalls and a small circle. The proscenium was 22 feet wide.
The Kingsway Kinema was always independently operated. A 37 feet wide CinemaScope screen was fitted forward of the original proscenium in the mid-1950’s and it was re-named Kingsway Cinema. It was closed Christmas week of 1959.
It was converted into the Kingsway car dealership, and retained its decorative cinema interior, which the manager of the dealership was proud to show to anyone interested. In 1998, Colin Ludwell Cars Ltd. took over the building. It was demolished in February 2009.
