A common misconception is that this theatre was closed due to the Majestic opening next door. Truth be told this theatre wasn’t profitable for a long time before the new 20 screen theatre opened next door. Even if the new theatre didn’t open this theatre’s fate would probably have been the same.

The mall is still standing. There are several small shops inside and a food court in the basement level. With the AFI and Regal nearby, I don’t know how much successful this place would be given the accessibility of 27 screens within blocks of each other. When I went to the Burlington Factory store near the theater, you can still see the refreshment stand there. I do not know what remains of the theater interiors. I am sure the seats and equipment are all gone.

Did anyone think about going in and running 2nd run movies here? Is the mall still standing, and did they scorch and burn on the way out?

This venue had a listing on CT. I wonder why its re-listed. I made mention of the fact that my friends and I visited here opening weekend. I don’t remember which film it may have been but I know I’ve seen both Alien 3 and Basic Instinct here when they opened. The theaters were decently sized and had equally decently sized screens. Its too bad this placed closed after the Majestic opened. The Majestic is a lousy run plex that has lousy projection and sound that is played too low to be enjoyable.

Anybody know if this place is still sitting there vacant? Last time I checked it was, and that had been around 2 years after it closed.
