Here is a January 1935 article about a fire at the Ritz:

The Ritz Theater was located here at around 112 EAST Main Street in Taylorville. I believe it was destroyed by fire at one point in its history, then rebuilt. It fell out of use sometime in the 1960’s and was torn down in the late 60’s-early 70’s and the theater and adjoining store fronts were made into a city parking lot. I was too young to attend movies there, but my mother worked there at sometime in her youth and told stories about how rat infested it was as patrons would complain about rats running across their feet as they were watching movies.
This theatre was located at 112 E. Main Cross St., not 112 S. Main St.
Opened on November 16th, 1905. Grand opening ad posted.
Reopened as the Ritz theatre on November 7th, 1931
