The Capitol Drive-In on Route 48 opened on May 17, 1950 with Lucille Balle in “Miss Grant Takes Richmond”. It was Operated by Central States Theaters Corp. and by 1951 it had been renamed Frisina Drive-In. This single-screen theatre had space for 500 cars. It was operated by the Frisina Amusements circuit until the early-1981 when it closed.
Most of the drive-in has been torn down, a Moose lodge later built on part of the property. The old marquee is still intact, used for advertising lodge events.

Daily Illinois State Journal, April 30, 1949: “Taylorville, April 29 - Dominic Frisina, of the Frisina Amusement Co., Friday announced plans to erect a modern Drive-In theater in the vicinity of Sharpsburg. The new theater will be designed to accommodate 500 cars and will cost approximately $100,000, Frisina said. Tentative plans also call for a supervised play area for the children plus "baby sitting” service, free to patrons of the theater."
Opened May 18th, 1950.
Last season: 1981. It was closed for the 1980 season.
Looks like the old concession building is still standing in back of the Lodge.
