Originally operated by the Alger Theatres chain, the Streator Drive-In was opened on June 10, 1949 with Robert Young in “Restless”. It was later operated by Kerasotes Theatres. Located on Bloomington Street (Route 23), it was closed on September 18, 1982 with Michelle Michaels in “The Slumber Party Massacre” & Barbara Bach in “Screamers”. It has been torn down, and a lumber company is located on the site today.

I remember going there as a teenager in the mid 70s. I believe it closed down around 1979?
The Streator Drive-In launched on June 10, 1949 with “Restless” starring Robert Young. The drive-in ended its operation on September 18, 1982 with a double-feature of “Slumber Party Massacre” and “Screamers.” The ozoner was demolished June 30, 1990 to make way for an industrial park.
A closer address is 1520 IL-23, Streator, Illinois. This points to the old entrance road of the drive-in which is now called Benchmark Industrial Drive.
Today, the propery is an industrial park with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
