Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre was opened on April 4, 1920 with Constance Talmadge in “A Virtuous Vamp”. It was a free standing, two-story brick structure. Through most of it’s history the owner was George Hanny, who also had an interest in the Maxine Theater. A new organ was installed in 1927, and air conditioning installed in 1940. (It is said an underground stream cooled the theatre before that).

The Capitol Theatre closed in 1957, was vacant for a period, then became Fazio’s Capitol Hall, and after that a Legion Post around the 1980’s.
