The Joy Theater was in a small corner building with a red trimmed marquee that sheltered the entrance and outside ticket booth and wrapped around the corner of the building. Above the entrance was a red vertical sign that had "Joy" spelled out with large white letters. The Joy Theater was opened December 24, 1941.

This opened on December 24th, 1941. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section.
1941 was a busy year for new theatres in the area. The Annex in Pineville on June 20th, Don two days later and the Joy on Dec 24th.
