Opened on January 14th, 1935. Grand opening ad posted.
Boxoffice of January 24th, 1948 reports that the Capitol theatre was destroyed by fire and was to be rebuilt by Newfoundland Amusements, who leased it to Famous Players.
As reported in the above two posts, the former Capitol Theatre has since been renovated to serve as studios for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s radio and TV operations in St. John’s.

Looks like its gone under a conversion – facade all redone just a small entry door with a Canadian Broadcasting Logo on it. The other end of theb building faces another street loks like an office tower undergoing interior renovations.
