The Sunset Outdoor Movies was located 2-miles east of Dickinson. Opened on August 9, 1950 with Adolphe Menjou in “Road Show”. It was operated by the same family as the Dickinson Theatre, and was the first drive-in theatre in Dickinson. It was renamed Dickinson Drive-In on August 12, 1950. The screen could be seen from nearby houses in the new Shinagle addition as well as from Morningside Heights Trailer court. By 1956 it had been renamed Hillcrest Drive-In. Closed down during the 1980’s, another casualty of the opening of Cine 3.
The screen came down in the late-1980’s. The road leading to the old drive-in can still be seen, but the spot is unreachable due to new construction.
