Does anyone know if this theatre still exists, and if so is it for sale/lease?
Current telephone directories show an optometrist’s office at this address. Probably the building was torn down and replaced with an office/store block or was converted to retail/office space.
The Circle Theatre was designed by the architectural firm of Kaplan & Sprachman. The City of Toronto web site provides an isometric drawing of the Circle Theatre by draftsman Eric Hounsom, then employed by Kaplan & Sprachman, but later to design at least one Toronto theater, the University, under his own name.
The Circle Theatre probably occupied the lot that is currently a parking lot next door to Dillon Opticians. It has definitely been demolished.
An interior view of the Circle as it was in 1945 can be seen here.
