Opened in 1972 as the Jerry Lewis Cinema, it became the Coral Way 97 and was soon relegated to sub-run limbo after that chain’s ill-fated ‘family theatre’ concept lost its purpose.
After several years of second run programming experiments it was reinvented as the first-run Astor Theatre in 1982.
It closed in 1985.

I remember when this theatre was the Coral Way 97th! This was a great hangout. Lots of girls, this theatre reminds me a lot of the old Village Theatre in Hialeah.
