The River Road Drive-In closed on September 25, 1983. It originally housed 400 cars as a single-screener, but it housed 1,100 cars in total as a triple-screener.

Before Its Grand-Reopening As A Triplex; It Was Revealed First On April 8th, 1973 Before Reopening To The Public On September 21st.

On November 27th, 1983 At Around Midnight; A Burglary Occurred At The River Road Drive-In. Unfortunately, It Contains A Couple Of Damage Including A Broken East Side Window Of The Concession. Martin Theatres Ended Up Closing The River Road In Early 1984, And Was Put Up As A… GARAGE SALE?!

According to the July 2, 1949 issue of BoxOffice, the “Riverroad” was segregated when it opened. The drive-in had a special section for black patrons “with a separate entrance and separate concession stand and playgrounds.”
