The River Road Drive-In was opened June 16, 1949 with Betty Hutton in “The Perils of Pauline”. It had a capacity for 400-cars. On September 21, 1973 it became a triple screen theatre and the capacity was increased to 1,100-cars. It was closed on September 25, 1983.

In 1956 it held 400 cars and was owned by Jefferson Amusement.

Approx. address for this drive-in was 2500 S Green St. Edwin Dr. east of this location was the entrance.
This opened on June 16th, 1949. I uploaded its grand opening ad in the photo section for this drive-in.
September 21st, 1973 grand opening ad as a 3-plex also in the photo section.
According to the July 2, 1949 issue of BoxOffice, the “Riverroad” was segregated when it opened. The drive-in had a special section for black patrons “with a separate entrance and separate concession stand and playgrounds.”
Before Its Grand-Reopening As A Triplex; It Was Revealed First On April 8th, 1973 Before Reopening To The Public On September 21st.
On November 27th, 1983 At Around Midnight; A Burglary Occurred At The River Road Drive-In. Unfortunately, It Contains A Couple Of Damage Including A Broken East Side Window Of The Concession. Martin Theatres Ended Up Closing The River Road In Early 1984, And Was Put Up As A… GARAGE SALE?!
Opened on 16/6/1949 with “The perils of Pauline”. Reopenec on 21/9/1973 on screen 1 with “Walking tall” and “The thing with 2 heads” and on screen 2 with “The woman hunt” and “Stacey” and on screen 3 with “Elvis on tour” and “Mad dogs and Englishmen”.
The River Road Drive-In closed on September 25, 1983. It originally housed 400 cars as a single-screener, but it housed 1,100 cars in total as a triple-screener.
