The Cortana Mall Cinema opened on August 26, 1976 with “The Omen”, “Swashbuckler” and “Blazing Saddles” on its three screens. One large house with stereo capability and two smaller houses were featured. The theater was part of the newly built Cortana Mall and had a steady run of success until closing on April 7, 1988, when its lease was not renewed.
Converted into retail space that the mall still occupies, there remains no trace that the cinema ever existed, except in the memories of the patrons who regularly filled it throughout its twelve-year run.
