The Neptune Drive-In opened December 22, 1950 with John Derek in Rouges of Sherwood Forest". Car capacity was listed at 500 cars. It was operated by Dixie Drive-In Theatres chain. It was located a block from the ocean.
The Neptune Drive-In in closed in 1964 but began use as a Christian Drive-In Church which still operates in 2017. The projection building was demolished by July 2022.

Located on South Atlantic Ave. Chuck, On June 5 1958 the NEPTUNE FAMILY DRIVE-in As it was called then, was playing “SHOWBOAT” and “SINGING IN THE RAIN”.

In 2017 this is still the Daytona Drive-In Christian Church. An August 1, 2017 article in the NY Times includes a short but nicely shot and edited video documentary. If this link doesn’t work, go to the Times site and search on “Drive-In Jesus”.

On both Google and Bing Maps, the property is fully recognizable as a former drive-in, with concessions building and many of the speaker poles still remaining.
Boxoffice, April 30, 1962: “It is reported that Jack Kain is scheduled to take over operation of the Neptune Drive-In, Daytona Beach, from Dixie Drive-In Theatres June 1.”
Opened on 22nd December 1950 with “Rogues of Sherwood Forest”.
The projection booth/concession stand was recently removed. It appears as late as the August 2019 Google Street View, but was gone by July 2022.
