The Excelsior Theatre was a small theatre in a city full of major theatre chains. It played movies such as "Pick-Up Artist" and "Raising Arizona", but was closed on Mondays. On July 16, 1982 it became the Excelsior Cinema & Pub.
Today it operates as a live music venue, known as the Masquerade.

Now “Masquerade”, a live music venue. Was in a building that had been converted into an entertainment venue with multiple venues inside that was an Excelsior Mill from way back when. Has been threatened with destruction about a million times since the 80’s, but seems to be still standing. Last I heard it had three levels, Heaven, Hell and Purgatory, very young crowd I think.
Thanks raymondstewart,I was hoping someone up there would fill in what I couldn’t.
BAD ADDRESS, Google Map Satellite Street Photo shows old houses at 695 North Avenue NW??
Need a CORRECT address more info and photos.
They had the best pizza ever at the Excelsior Mill in the 80’s. We’d have pizza and go see a film. It was my guilty pleasure to drive all the way from Dunwoody to go there.
When I was a teenager we used to go to this “theater.” I took a date there to see “A Boy and His Dog.” The theater played retro movies. We liked going there because you could eat pizza and beer while watching the movies. It was very laid back and cool. It had a basement feel.
